The Brief
Butler McDermott Lawyers needed a new office at Innovation Parkway, Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast. With an established office in Nambour, Butler McDermott Lawyers expanded its Sunshine Coast presence with a second office that matched the calibre of their reputation. The brief called for a refined, corporate space that also worked hard for a busy legal team: a welcoming entrance and waiting area, five private offices, an open-plan workspace, and a dedicated meeting room, all connected by an easy flow through the tenancy. Acoustic performance and privacy were essential from day one, given the confidentiality every conversation in a legal practice demands.
The Outcome
The finished space pairs sophistication with practicality. Navy blue, walnut timber and brass detailing bring warmth and polish throughout, with the firm’s corporate colours integrated into the fitout rather than applied as an afterthought. A curved benchseat with backlit signage greets clients on arrival, echoed in a custom boardroom credenza and a distinctive workstation design in the open-plan area. The result is a new chapter for a firm with a hundred years of history, delivered with the same care RAW brings to every project.
The Design
Designed to balance professionalism with functionality, this workplace features a refined, corporate aesthetic while supporting the day-to-day needs of the team. The layout was carefully planned to create a seamless flow, with acoustic performance and workplace privacy considered throughout. A welcoming arrival experience sets the tone, while the client’s corporate colours are thoughtfully integrated into the fitout, reinforcing their brand identity in a subtle and sophisticated way.
Construction
A straightforward build from a delivery perspective, but one of those projects that comes together with real presence. The material palette did a lot of the work — navy blues, walnut timbers and brass combined to give the space a genuinely sophisticated feel on site.
The standout was the workstation design in the open-plan area, a custom top shape and screen combination we hadn’t built before, which gave the everyday workspace an extra point of character.
