THE BRIEF
Loan Market is a home-loan and small-finance company. They opened a new retail outlet near the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Herston, Brisbane, to cater for their growing clientele. The finance company needed a warm, comfortable setting with a meeting room, reception and waiting area, as well as six workstations in an open-plan setting. Overall, the office had to be practical and compact, while reflecting their professional brand.
DESIGN
The design sought to highlight Loan Market’s professional but approachable business. We did this by pairing timber and natural elements with hard finishes such as stone and concrete. This elegant minimalism brought warmth and comfort to the space, while accents in the feature screens, battens and pendant lights created areas of interest and a contemporary look.
The office flow is clear and simple, allowing staff easy access throughout. We used a neutral colour palette to maintain the corporate approach, but utilised the texture of VJ boards and acoustic wall panelling.
CONSTRUCTION
The construction of the Loan Market fitout occurred in a high-traffic area of Brisbane. Located near the busy Herston Health Precinct’s Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS), we paid special attention to ensuring there were sufficient wet and dry fire services.
Within the fitout itself, the construction team led by Tom Buckley worked well to coordinate multiple trades within a limited space. Together, they devised creative joinery solutions to hide essential infrastructure.
RESULTS
The fitout balanced professional aesthetics and practical design. The spaces are pleasant but private, the flow is accessible, and the surroundings attractive and welcoming.
Employees have ample workstation area to enhance collaboration, but they can also access the small meeting and breakout room when their work demands confidentiality.
Visitors are welcomed into an attractive, light-filled reception area.
THE OUTCOME
We delivered the Loan Market fitout on time and on budget, in a high-traffic area, which required significant coordination and project management. Loan Market now has a functional office that exemplifies its brand. It is also a welcoming and private place for clients. Thanks to Loan Market for allowing us to work with you on this project.
