The Brief

Mitsubishi Electric relocated to the top floor of their existing premises at Da Vinci Business Park, Brisbane Airport, as part of a broader strategy to consolidate their team, strengthen their corporate presence, and create a workplace capable of supporting future growth. The new environment needed to accommodate a diverse range of functions across 1,036m², including 35 workstations, six executive offices, a 15-person boardroom, a dedicated training facility, a customer-facing showroom, multiple meeting and collaboration spaces, and a fully equipped kitchen and breakout area. The challenge was creating a workplace that balanced operational efficiency with a professional, brand-led experience for both staff and visitors.

The Outcome

Delivered under a design-and-construct model, the completed fitout provides Mitsubishi Electric with a workplace that is both highly functional and distinctly representative of the business. Warm timber finishes, full-height glazing, integrated branding and carefully considered material selections combine to create a refined corporate environment that feels welcoming, professional and enduring. From the arrival experience through to the open-plan workspace, training facilities and client-facing areas, every element was designed to support the way Mitsubishi Electric’s teams work, collaborate and engage with customers. The result is a future-focused workplace that enhances day-to-day performance, reinforces brand presence, and positions the business for continued growth — delivered on time, on budget, and ready from day one.

The Design

This space allowed us to divide it into a public and visitor side, which includes a tea point, a large training room, showroom, storerooms, a meeting room, and a boardroom for 15 people. The office side for staff includes 6 offices, a meeting room, utilities, and a kitchen/breakout space. Since Mitsubishi plans to stay in this location for at least the next 10 years, designing with longevity in mind was important. To keep within their global company brand, a neutral colour palette with warm and dark toned timbers, grey, warm neutrals and splash of red was chosen. Complementary colours of teals and blues and different shades of red were added to create contrast and balance to the colour palette. The design is modern, fresh yet warm, and accent lighting has been used to make collaborating and gathering spaces inviting and dynamic. The ample office space allows for significant flexibility regarding future needs and staff changes.

Construction

Delivering Mitsubishi Electric’s Brisbane office fitout within a highly regulated airport precinct required overcoming complex technical, acoustic, and construction challenges. The team integrated seismic design considerations, aircraft noise attenuation measures, and extensive acoustic upgrades, including soundshield plasterboard, acoustic glass, and additional boardroom panels, to enhance occupant comfort while meeting stringent airport standards. Architectural features like curved walls and a complex feature ceiling elevated the design, while practical solutions addressed challenges unique to the location: extensive plumbing works with in-floor drains, long pipe runs, and restricted access to the level below during installation. The result is a high-quality workplace that balances technical rigour, regulatory compliance, and architectural appeal.
